Farewell & Thank You To Our Chair Lesley Kennedy

After 4½ years at the helm of the club our Chair, Lesley Kennedy has decided that it is time for her to pass the baton on.

Since she took on the role of chair in 2019, Lesley has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help the club grow and progress to the strong and successful place we are now at.

Her commitment to the club has been huge both as the lead club officer and also as a hands on organiser and volunteer supporting club events and activities. Her contributions are too great to list, however, here are just a few highlights:

  1. During COVID Lesley ensured that the club remained safe for all at an unprecedented time, as well as offering regular communications to all members to keep them up to date with the ever-changing advice. When we returned to the pool, Lesley was always on hand to support the swimmers on poolside as a COVID volunteer.

  2. Lesley was instrumental in the development of our mini galas for the youngest swimmers spending many hours organising the galas and being there on the day to oversee the event and collate the results.

  3. Our website was refreshed in 2022 which was a huge task. Lesley maintained that she was no expert in website development but was integral to the new website looking as polished as it does. She has also been responsible for keeping it up to date with all the news stories and updated information which has taken much time and dedication.

  4. The recent move to the new pool took many hours of planning. Lesley led on this, and her communication was second to none. This made sure that the move was seamless.

  5. It is vital that the club has relevant policies and procedures to make sure that the club runs safely and effectively. Lesley has used her expertise to ensure that these are up to date, and, when necessary, written new documents.

It is with great sadness that we see Lesley depart, she is undoubtedly a loss to the club and committee but we offer our sincere thanks for the time, energy and enthusiasm she has offered MASC.

Thank you Lesley.
