Appointment of Jake Hewitt as Lead Coach

ree

Morpeth Amateur Swimming Club (MASC) are delighted to announce the appointment of an additional professional coach.  Jake Hewitt will join as Lead Coach for our younger competitive squads (C1, C2 and C3) working closely with the Club’s Head Coach, Becki McGuire. Becki will continue to be responsible for overall coaching and swimmer development across the whole Club as well as leadership of our older competitive squads and our pre-competitive squads. Becki and Jake will continue to work closely with our highly experienced and dedicated volunteer coaches, without whom the club would not exist.

Jake is no stranger to MASC, having joined as a swimmer when he was just 8 years old.  He had a very successful time with the club, as a swimmer, developing through the squads and achieving a variety of qualifying times for county and then regional events.  Jake volunteered initially as an aquatic helper for several years, before completing his Assistant Coach (L1) in 2022, and Coach qualifications (L2) in 2024.  He has worked with many of our current swimmers; leading C1 initially before moving onto C3.  For the last two years, Jake has been responsible for leading our Diddy League team, helping them to achieve amazing results.

Jake is a highly engaged swimming coach, and this is reinforced by his extensive commitment to MASC as a volunteer, but also by his choice of future career.  He has just graduated from Northumbria University with a BSc Hons in Sports Coaching, and MASC are delighted welcome him as Lead Coach, in his first professional appointment.
