Masters Swimming: Join Our Community
Our Masters group welcomes swimmers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Whether you’re training for pool racing, open‑water events, triathlon, or general fitness, you’ll find a supportive, motivating environment, including a monthly post training social.
Training Sessions
Tuesday morning: Morpeth Leisure Centre 6:00-7:00am (4 lanes)
Thursday morning: Ashington Leisure Centre 6:30-7:30am (2 lanes)
Saturday evening: Morpeth Leisure Centre 5:00-6:00pm (4 lanes)
Tuesday and Saturday sessions are coached by Paul Jones, whereas the Thursday morning session is a member led session.
Training Structure
Swimmers are placed into one of up to four lanes based on speed and endurance.
Each 60‑minute coached session follows a structured format, typically including: warm‑up, build set, main set, technique work and cool down. Sessions are purposeful with short rest intervals.
Joining criteria: the ability to swim 200m front crawl continuously. If you’re close to that level, you’ll be supported with appropriate rest or shorter reps. With regular attendance, most swimmers improve technique, speed and endurance across multiple strokes.
Try Before You Join
You may attend up to three sessions before deciding to become a member.
